At Lilou’s Art Restoration Lisa specialises in Painting Conservation, Sculpture and Paper. She uses treatments and processes with the least intervention possible, in order to preserve the authenticity of an art piece and the original artist’s intent; at the same time and in balance, to rejuvenate and restore to an original aesthetic, whether in discussions with the artists themselves or through historical and scientific research.
Lisa applies a range of conservation treatments informed by current research in the field, using a plethora of technical and academic skills including; conservation documentation, technical examination in addition to the structural repair, stabilisation, consolidation and cleaning of works of art.
She critically evaluates her approach to conservation treatments and is reflective in her practice. She will endeavour to identify the materials used and the reasons behind the deterioration of these materials that are associated with works of Art; in order to investigate and carry out appropriate treatments to restore and enhance the longevity of an Art piece.
Lisa works with art-work, from historical artefacts to the contemporary; using traditional conservation methods as well as new techniques tailored to individual art pieces. Indeed no artefact is the same and treatment depends on the individual materials, layering and structure of the piece.
She offers a range of treatments from a simple surface clean of a painting to more extensive treatments which include: removal of discoloured varnish, tear repair, strip lining, consolidation of flaky paint; filling and re-touching losses of paint; re- varnishing, or repairing a broken sculpture.
